National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), Penang Branch
The National Cancer Society of Malaysia was inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur on 24th may 1966 by the late Tun Abdul Razak, the former Prime Minister. The Penang Branch was set up on 15th July 1968.
Penang Hospice Society
Under the auspices of NCSM (Pg), a public meeting was convened on 2nd Sept 2000 with the proposal "that a separate organization should now be formed to run Hospice services in Penang." The proposal was unanimously adopted by the meeting, attended by 50 participants, and a pro-tem Committee was set up to draft a constitution and register the new society. On 21st Nov 2001, the Registrar of Societies approved the setting up of the Penang Hospice Society.
